Cineville Belgium is an initiative created by 4 Brussels cinemas – Galeries, Palace, Kinograph and Vendôme – which joined forces during the Covid crisis to work creatively to facilitate access to their cinemas. In 2021, with the support of a European appeal, they embarked on the development of an unlimited access scheme for their cinemas, which would become the Cineville Pass.
This was followed by a survey of their audiences, which confirmed their interest in an unlimited pass and encouraged the cinemas to go ahead with the project. Drawing inspiration and support from the successful initiative of its Dutch counterparts, the Belgian version was launched in a test phase in the summer of 2022 within the founding cinemas in a cooperative form, via the Belgian Arthouse Cinema Pass structure. In September of the same year, Cineville Belgium was launched, with 7 cinemas in Brussels.
Since then, Cineville has built up a network of 23 cinemas across the 3 Regions (8 in Brussels, 8 in Flanders and 7 in Wallonia), with a total of 67 screens and over 10,000 subscribers.
