Le Générique: an inclusive directory for the Belgian film and audiovisual industry

A much-needed directory, Le Générique highlights women (who identify as such), transgender people and non-binary people working in the Belgian audiovisual sector. This ‘Directory of Belgian Film and Audiovisual Professionals’ is the work of the associations Elles* Font des Films and Elles Tournent/Dames Draaien.

It aims to raise the profile of these often invisible professionals by highlighting their skills and creations. By facilitating access to a wide range of profiles, Le Générique is helping to build more inclusive teams that are representative of the diversity of our society.

As part of the Brussels Entrepreneurship Agency, play.brussels understands the importance of inclusion and diversity in the creative sector and in the entrepreneurial world. These factors encourage the development of a flourishing economy that has a positive impact on society. The cluster therefore supports any initiative that raises the profile of under-represented talent, fights discrimination and promotes a culture of innovation and creativity.

Why promote diversity and inclusion in audiovisual companies?

Diversity and inclusion play ‘an essential role (…) in the performance of the workforce, companies, the economy and society in general’, says the International Labour Organisation (ILO) report on diversity and inclusion. Diverse teams are better equipped to innovate and adapt to market changes, enabling them to overcome challenges more effectively. At European level, statistics show that companies that embrace diversity have better economic performance and a greater capacity for innovation.

By supporting initiatives such as Le Générique, play.brussels aims to help strengthen the resilience and competitiveness of Brussels businesses. The cluster also encourages companies to adopt more inclusive practices and to value diversity in their teams, in order to create an environment where every talent can flourish and contribute to the cultural richness of Brussels.
